The importance of breathwork

At the start of a Spinal Energetics session with me, I will guide you through a simple breathwork exercise. This allows you to settle into your body, calm your nervous system, and open yourself to the flow of energy that will unfold throughout the session.

Breath is life. It is the first thing we do when we arrive in this world and the last thing we release when we leave. Yet, in between, many of us forget how to truly breathe. Stress, trauma, and modern living often lead to shallow, restricted breathing, which keeps the nervous system in a state of tension and survival. When we reconnect to deep, intentional breathing, we:

  • Signal safety to the nervous system, allowing the body to soften and heal.
  • Release stored emotions and stagnant energy that have been locked within.
  • Expand lung capacity and increase the flow of oxygen, fuelling vitality.
  • Anchor ourselves in the present moment, moving out of the mind and into the body.

On a spiritual level, breath is often seen as the carrier of life force energy. By breathing fully, we awaken this flow and create space for higher states of awareness. Breathwork during Spinal Energetics sessions helps the body move energy more freely, supporting deeper release, transformation, and expansion of consciousness.

Breath is the reminder that healing is not about adding something from outside, it is about returning to what is already within you.
